I got 'em!!!

We were finally able to catch the two siblings of Celeste. I am assuming that they're all girls, but I haven't checked the one who looks very much like Celeste yet. We named her Soleil. The tortie is, of course, a girl and we named her Luna. So we have Celeste (heavenly,) Soleil (sun) and Luna (moon!) We're calling their mom Estelle (star.)

Here's their first trio picture:

Here's a link to their ever-expanding on-line photo album:

Celeste the kitten

As you may have noticed, once one animal moves on from my home, another always arrives. You may remember Hope, the kitten I found halfway frozen 2 winters ago... well I found Celeste in the same place. She seems healthy, and although she'd never been handled by a human, seems to be enjoying the attention.

I plan to go back and "TNR" (trap, neuter & return) the 5 adult feral cats and catch the other 2 kittens. One of the adults is pregnant, so wish me luck catching her before they are born so we can make sure 1) they are all getting proper nutrition, and 2) momma gets spayed before she has another litter!

Muffin ? - 7/3/09

I realized that with all the stress I've had recently, I failed to update the blog very well. I had put a lot of information up on Facebook, not realizing I hadn't also updated the blog. For those of you who are not Facebook friends, I apologize for this.

Muffin has been put to rest. Her condition was deteriorating, and she was unlikely to walk again - the only reason for keeping her going in the first place considering her hemangiosarcoma.

It's been hard for my kids and myself. We'd become used to caring for her constantly. Here's the web album with her pictures. I didn't load all of the recent ones, simply because they are not fun to look at...

Thank you to everyone who donated money for her care - I could not have done it without your help. In the end, we'd tried everything for her to walk again: steroids, pain pills, Chinese herbs, even acupuncture - but nothing showed any signs of improvement.

By July 3rd, she was on her 7th acupuncture treatment. That's when we converted the appointment to one for her euthanasia. She went very peacefully - slept first and everyone she knew said goodbye to her. She was in no pain. We loved her.
